Being a part of a CrossFit gym means that you are going to learn a variety of movements that you may or may not have seen or done before. Some of those movements will be easy for you, but some will challenge you. Nevertheless, you should do them all, even the ones that you want to cherry-pick out of the workout. These weak points in our form or fitness will test your physical and mental endurance. That’s why it’s important to understand that it’s okay to get out of that comfort zone. Even if you feel like the most ridiculous person at the gym, working your butt off to learn or master something will only make you better.
Growth occurs outside of our comfort zone. Nothing changes if you're stuck in the same routine day in day out. Take fitness for example, you'll never lose weight by maintaining your resting heart rate all day. You have to push your limits for what you want. Nothing worth having is easy, or everyone would have it - and it would no longer be special. We are all usually worried about short term gain. If you have that cookie or pizza, you will enjoy it in the short run. What we should be worried about, however, is long term gain. We should almost look to actively seek out short term suffering in order to enjoy long term gain (i.e going to the gym every day, or eating your prepped chicken breast and broccoli instead of that pizza you really want).
It doesn't make you happy in the moment, but it will thrill you in the long run when your small victories accumulate into the embodiment of your goals. So get out of your comfort zone and try something new today!
